Canadian Silver Proof-like Sets

We are very pleased to offer these scarce and attractive Canadian silver proof-like sets from the early 1960s.

Proof-like sets were the highest quality sets produced by the Canadian Mint, and are the equivalent of U.S. proof sets. Minted specially for collectors with extreme care on special dies, each coins features deep strikes, bold devices, mirrored fields, and shimmering mint luster.

Completely original
Our sets are completely original. They are dated 1963, 1964, and 1965, and contain one each the following six coins:

1-cent copper
5-cent nickel
10-cent silver
25-cent silver
50-cent silver
$1-dollar silver

Each set is complete with its original Canadian Mint packaging, including the original mint envelope and official certificate of authenticity. All six coins are sealed in a transparent cellophane display sheet, just like U.S. proof sets from 1961 to 1964, for protection and easy viewing.

End of the silver era
These old sets are becoming scarce, and represent the end of an era of silver coinage for circulation and collector editions. Whereas the U.S. Mint stopped producing silver coinage in 1964, Canada continued to mint coins out of silver until 1967. The 10-cent, 25-cent, 50-cent, and dollar coins are all 80% silver. They feature the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverses, and traditional images on the reverses.
